Electrical Safety
  • Never remove the grounding plug (the third prong) on any appliance or extension cord.Electric Plug
  • If you must use an extension cord, use a 3-prong grounded or approved cord.
  • Do not place extension cord across a walkway.
  • If you must use a multi-plug outlet extension device, look for a UL approved label, do not overload.
  • Large household appliances such as washers, some dryers, and air conditioners should have 220-volt outlets.
  • Refrigerators and freezers should have their own standard outlet.
  • If there is an oxygen concentrator or ventilator in the home, use a 3-prong grounded outlet.
  • Inform your power company of your special needs regarding the equipment so that you will receive first priority in the event of a power outage.
  • Additional equipment may overload your circuit, have an electrician inspect if in doubt.
  • Do not allow liquids to come in contact with electrical equipment.
