Welcome to OSF Hospice
Hospice is for patients with a life-limiting illness, with a prognosis of 6 months or less to live, who have decided not to pursue curative or life prolonging treatment and instead want to focus on palliative (comfort) treatment. Anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness can be eligible for Hospice. It is not just for cancer, but also for end-stage heart and lung disease, kidney failure, AIDs, Alzheimer's, etc.
Hospice is a concept of care for patients of all ages, allowing them to live their last days in an atmosphere of loving kindness surrounded by loved ones. It is available to patients at home or in a nursing facility.

Physician House Calls
Is it difficult for you to travel to your doctor? Our medical director, Dr. Robert Sawicki, travels throughout Central Illinois to visit Home Health and Hospice patients.
Dr. Sawicki is available to plan your care (while consulting with your family provider), evaluate your need for Hospice or Home Health services, or teach you about OSF Hospice.

Ways to Volunteer
Volunteers are an essential part of the Hospice program and they make a major difference in the community. Many volunteer opportunities are available, including reading to patients, handiwork around the house or assisting with clerical work in the office.
Our volunteers are trained to ensure they are comfortable and knowledgeable about Hospice before they begin at OSF Home Care Services.
