"It is an enormous privilege to serve our patients where they want to be."

"Home is where the heart is" may be an old saying but AJ Querciagrossa couldn’t agree more. "Over 130 years ago, long before hospitals were built, our founding Sisters began caring for people in their homes. Some pioneer Sisters rode donated bicycles; others walked where they were needed."
OSF Home Care Services continues that tradition today. "I feel very fortunate," says AJ, who officially assumed OSF Home Care leadership in early 2011. "It is an enormous privilege to serve patients where they want to be. We offer a choice for those who want state-of-the-art care but the security and comfort of their own homes. We celebrate our Mission of never turning away anyone who needs our services."
AJ earned his BS from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Management for the University of St. Francis in Joliet. His career with the Sisters began in 1995 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Two years later, he joined the OSF Home Care team and served in a number of positions, most recently as interim CEO.
OSF Home Care Services is positioned for impressive growth for a number of reasons, according to AJ. "New technology means more patients with more serious illnesses can be cared for outside the hospital. And with the Baby Boomers aging, we can expect an enormous demand for services. To reach all those who need home care, "we are definitely taking a regional perspective," says AJ. "Typically we’ve served those living near hospitals or hospices, but we see many other opportunities ahead."
AJ and his team are responsible for Medicare-certified home health and hospice, as well as home infusion pharmacy, home medical equipment, personal response systems, physician house calls and a diabetes supply program. Retail services are also expanding, both online and in stores. "It’s exciting," says AJ. "I just love being with the staff out in the region asking what we can do better and what I can do to help."
